About Connecting the Dots:
Each year, Young Australian People (YAP) hosts this event, gathering employers, education providers, and community organizations to support young people on their employment journey. Last year, 100 participants and 12 organizations joined us, providing attendees with valuable insights and mentorship.

Young Australian People is a not-for-profit organisation that has been created - and is operated by – the same community that the organisation aims to help - residents of Melbourne’s public housing estates and multicultural communities. It is run by youth who have overcome the barriers that restrict disadvantaged young people from engaging fully in the workforce and are already part of the community. Young Australian People aims to empower and equip disadvantaged multicultural youth, predominantly living in public housing to create their best lives, through the provision of support, information, guidance, connections and community.
Young Australian People’s vision is to create an environment in which there are no barriers that restrict disadvantaged
young people from gaining meaningful employment and skills. We want to see young people in government roles and
across all sectors, advancing in meaningful careers and becoming the best version of themselves.

This unique combination of youth leadership and professional industry connections sets Young Australian People Inc. Apart from other organizations working in this field. The youth leaders bring a deep understanding of the challenges and barriers faced by their peers, as they have experienced them firsthand. This allows them to provide tailored support and guidance that is relevant and relatable to the young people they serve.
The involvement of professionals from the industry also adds value to the organization's programs and services. These individuals can offer insights into the skills and qualities required for success in their respective fields, as well as provide networking opportunities and job leads. This partnership between youth leaders and industry professionals creates a holistic approach to employment and personal development, ensuring that young people receive a well-rounded experience that prepares them for the workforce.
